Friesenbrücke: verification of dredging and bed protection

Turning 2D designs into construction-ready 3D models, supported by monitoring, reporting and excavation systems around the bridge axes.

Bathymetric depth model around the Friesenbrücke near Weener

Project

Dredging, filter layers and bed protection followed each other rapidly around several bridge axes. The available 2D designs had to be converted into practical models for construction and monitoring while every phase remained verifiably within design.

Approach

De Groot GeoServices built construction models from the 2D designs and processed supplied multibeam data for checks and comparisons. During the works, the Prolec and Viking Dredge excavation systems were supported, progress was monitored and the results were documented for each phase.

Result

The construction team had practical machine models, current monitoring and verifiable reports for dredging, filter layers and bed protection. Design, machine systems and progress therefore remained connected throughout the different phases.
